Hi, I'm Rachel—founder of Wildflower Editorial.
I’m a developmental editor, story consultant and coach, writer, librarian, podcaster, and storyteller with over fifteen years of experience studying, teaching, and practising all things reading, writing, and storytelling.
Books have always captivated and enchanted me—their ability to transport and transform is a perfect example of how stories take root and flourish.
I love sharing the magic of books, writing, and editing with passionate readers and authors.
More than anything, I love helping writers nurture their words into stories that truly blossom.

Rachel Vine is a developmental editor, story consultant and coach, and children’s librarian based in Boorloo (Perth, WA). With a background in education, librarianship, and postgraduate study in Editing, Publishing, and Children’s Literature, she brings both heart and craft to every story she touches.
Through her boutique editing house, Wildflower Editorial, and her podcasts, Rachel supports authors of children’s and youth fiction to grow their manuscripts from tender seedling to full bloom.
She believes in the quiet power of words, the wonder of a well-told tale, and the kind of stories that plant roots in young readers’ hearts.
Rachel works from a light-filled office shared with three distractingly handsome cats, a stack of half-drunk French Earl Grey teas, and an ever-growing book collection arranged in rainbow order.

My Editing Philosophy
At its root, an editor’s role is to help an author communicate with their intended audience.
As an editor, I want to help you take your manuscript from bud to blossom and cultivate a story to delight your readers.
I am committed to preserving your unique style and voice—helping you to refine your words or story, so your manuscript resonates with readers.
My philosophy as an editor sits in line with famous editor Maxwell Perkins—the man who edited Hemingway—who said:
An editor does not add to a book. At best, he serves as a handmaiden to an author. Don’t ever get to feeling important about yourself, because an editor, at most, releases energy. A writer’s best work comes entirely from himself (sic) . . . because in the end, an editor can only get as much out of an author as the author has (sic).
